CCSU Picked Second in Coaches Poll
The Blue Devils will look to repeat as NEC Champions.
The women's outdoor track and field team was selected second in the 2021 preseason coaches poll on Friday. The Blue Devils were one of five teams to receive a first-place vote.
Central won its first NEC Outdoor Championship in 2019. Junior Angie Rafter took the silver medal in the 800 meter run, posting a time of 2:13.72. Hailey Rospierski scored five points in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.73. Junior Danyelle Engels finished 12th in the discus with a toss of 35.22 meters.
Mount St. Mary's was chosen as the favorite, receiving two first-place votes. Fairleigh Dickinson collected the most first-place votes with four, but was picked third. Sacred Heart and LIU each collected one first-place vote. LIU was picked fifth and Wagner, Bryant, Merrimack, and finally St. Francis Brooklyn completed the poll.
