Central Places 4th in the 2021 Northeast Conference Championships
The Blue Devils totaled 90 points in the championships on Sunday.
The reigning champion women's outdoor track and field team placed fourth in the 2021 Northeast Conference Championships on Sunday. The team earned a total of 90 points, but Saint Francis University took first place with 195 points.
Angie Rafter was named the Most Outstanding Track Performer for distance and freshman Brooke Morabito was crowned the Most Outstanding Rookie Performer.
Junior Angie Rafter cruised through the 3000m steeplechase, coming in with a time of 10:55.98, nearly a minute faster than the next closest finisher. With the first place finish she earned 10 points for CCSU.
Fellow distance runner Ashley Dana took gold in the 1500 meter finals, with a time of 4:35.14.
Rafter backed up her steeplechase victory by earning a second gold medal in the 5000m run, posting a time of 17:39.06. Teammate Brooke Morabito finished just behind Rafter with a time of 17:41.43 and took home the silver. The pair collected 18 points for CCSU in the event.
Senior Hailey Rospierksi finished just .03 seconds behind the winner of the 100m hurdles. She earned the silver medal with a time of 14.08 seconds.
Sophomore Danyelle Engels placed fifth in the discus finals with a best mark of 37.29m and earned three points.
The team of Magnalen Camara, Briyanna Labbie, Kamilah Diaz, and Kaylia Bailey earned two points for CCSU with their time of 4:04.92 in the 4 x 400m relay.
