Women's Outdoor Track and Field All-Conference Selections Announced
The Northeast Conference announced all-conference honors for outdoor track and field, which included Central Connecticut runners in nine events it was announced on Thursday afternoon by the league office. The honorees included junior Angie Rafter and freshman Brooke Morabito who were named Most Outstanding Track Performer (Distance) and Most Outstanding Rookie Performer, respectively, at last month's championships.
Rafter won gold in the 5000 meter run and the steeple chase to earn All-NEC First Team honors. She won the 5k in 17:39.06 and the steeple chase in 10:55.98. Morabito took gold in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 37:44.09 to earn First Team recognition.
Sophomore Ashley Dana joined them on the first team after she won gold in the 1500 meter run. Dana turned in a time of 4:35.14 for the win.
Dana and Morabito both earned spots on the Second Team as well. Dana placed second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:15.45, while Morabito took runner-up honors in the 5K with a time of 17:41.43.
Senior Hailey Rospierski rounded out CCSU honorees on the Second Team with a spot in the 100 meter hurdles. Rospierski clocked a time of 14.08 for a silver medal finish.
Morabito's performances earned her a spot on the All-Rookie Team in the 5000 meter and 10,000 meter runs.
