Saunders Tabbed NEC Field Athlete of the Week
Junior Ronea Saunders claimed her first NEC accolade of the outdoor season this week, clearing 1.75m in the high jump.
Junior Ronea Saunders of the Central Connecticut women's track and field team was named Northeast Conference Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday for her impressive performance this past weekend at the 19th Annual Monmouth Season Opener.
Saunders has contested two meets this outdoor season and has matched her program record in the high jump on both occasions. This past weekend, Saunders out-classed the field at the 19th Annual Monmouth Season Opener, clearing 1.75m (5' 8.75") to strike gold. Her winning leap was five centimeters better than the runner-up finisher.
Saunders is one of only 23 jumpers in the NCAA East Region to have cleared that height thus far this outdoor season.
The Blue Devils will return to action this Friday, April 4, at Stanford.
