Central Claims First After Day Two at NEC's
Swimming & diving tops the standings on day two of the NEC Championship.
The Central Connecticut swimming & diving team sprung ahead of St. Francis (P.A.) on day two of the Northeast Conference Championship to top the standings. On day one, Central trailed St. Francis (P.A.) by 14 points but on day two the Blue Devils turned in 270 points to overtake the lead.
Junior Taylor Friedmann claimed the 500 yard freestyle event with a time of 4:53.71, 3.58 seconds ahead of second place teammate junior Allison Rasile (4:57.29).
Another back-to-back Blue Devil duo came in the 200 yard IM event. Senior Alex Czaplicki swam to a second place finish in the event (2:04.29) just a fraction of a second ahead of junior Katie Lang who rounded out the top three with a time of 2:05.77.
Senior Madison Vestergaard continued her dominance on the boards earning gold in the 1m diving event with a score of 250.10.
The third day of NEC Championship action will resume tomorrow Friday, February 24th.
