Pair Honored by Northeast Conference
Taylor Friedmann and Madison Vestergaard earn weekly conference honors
It was a Blue Devil sweep this week as Central Connecticut's Taylor Friedmann and Madison Vestergaard notched Northeast Conference Swimmer and Diver of the week honors, respectively.
Friedmann swam to a first place finish in the 500 free and two second place finishes in the 1,000 and 200 free at Central's tri-meet against UNH and NEC rival Bryant. Friedmann's weekend times in the 1000 (10:30.62), 500 (5:05.11) and 200 (1:53.08) now represent the top times for the conference in each event.
On the boards, Vestergaard continued to show why she is the reigning NEC Champion in the 1 and 3 meter events as she was the top conference finisher at the meet, picking up two second place nods.
Friedmann collects her first NEC Swimmer of the week honor of the season following a first place finish in the 500 yard freestyle at a tri-meet with UNH and NEC foe Bryant. Friedmann touched the wall in 5:05.11, which currently ranks first as the best time in the conference this season. The junior finished second in the 1,000 and 200 freestyle with times of 10:30.62 and 1:53.08, respectively, which are also the current top marks in the league.
Vestergaard, the reigning NEC Outstanding Diver, earned two second place finishes on the boards this past weekend en-route to picking up her second NEC Diver of the Week honor of the fall. The senior scored a 226 in the 3m event and 227.92 in the 1m.
