CCSU Tops Bryant, Falls to UNH
Central split the team competition today at UNH beating Bryant and losing to New Hampshire.
The Central Connecticut swimming & diving team split the team results today at the University of New Hampshire. Central topped Bryant in the team competition 180 to 110 and lost to New Hampshire 213 to 84.
In the 200 yard medley relay, Central placed third in a time of 1:52.43. The relay team was made up of junior Hannah Packer, senior Shauna Lynch, sophomore Kathryn Kiely, and junior Christine Smith.
Junior Taylor Friedmann placed second (10:30.62) in the 1000 yard freestyle. Junior Lauren O'Kelly placed third (10:41.27).
Friedmann also placed second in the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 1:53.08. Junior Allison Rasile finished fifth (1:59.31) and freshman Karen Novak finished sixth (2:00.06) in the event.
In the 100 yard backstroke, sophomore Helene Neuhaus placed third (59.09). Rasile and Packer tied for seventh place (1:02.48).
Sophomore Kristina Gulia placed second (1:07.59) in the 100 yard backstroke. Smith placed sixth (1:12.39).
Junior Katie Lang finished third (2:10.46) in the 200 yard butterfly. O'Kelly placed fifth (2:18.66) and Kiely placed sixth (2:20.49).
In the 50 yard freestyle Neuhaus finished fifth in 25.36 and sophomore Erin Massey finished sixth in 25.61.
Senior Madison Vestergaard placed second in the 1 meter diving event with a score of 227.92. Freshman Kaitlyn Dwyer scored 175.12, good for fourth place.
Neuhaus placed second (54.42) in the 100 yard freestyle and Massey placed sixth (55.85).
In the 200 yard backstroke, Rasile finished fifth (2:12.14) and Packer finished sixth (2:13.18).
Gulia placed third (2:27.09) in the 200 yard breaststroke and Smith placed fourth (2:32.50).
Friedmann topped the 500 yard freestyle event in a time of 5:05.11. Sophomore Kasey Chilton finished the event in a time of 5:15.12, good for fourth place.
Lang finished the 100 yard butterfly in 1:00.51, good for fourth place. Kiely placed ninth (1:03.71).
Vestergaard came away with a second place finish in the 3 meter diving event scoring a 226.00. Dwyer placed fourth (161.10).
In the 200 yard IM, Lang finished fifth (2:15.42) and O'Kelly finished sixth (2:18.06).
The Central Connecticut 200 yard freestyle relay team placed third in a time of (1:42.74). The team was made up of Massey, Novak, Neuhaus, and Friedmann.
