Career Day Nets Valluzzi NEC Player Of The Week
Junior had 13 points in two games, including a career-high in every offensive category in the win at FDU.
A career-day in a Northeast Conference road win earned Central Connecticut women's lacrosse player Lauren Valluzzi NEC Player of the Week honors. She was joined on the NEC Prime Performer list by Madison Cowdin.
Valluzzi scored seven times and had six assists, for 13 points, as she helped the Blue Devils to a 2-0 week. She notched single-game career highs in every offensive category in the Blue Devils win at FDU on Saturday, with five goals, four assists and nine points. Her two biggest goals came in the fourth quarter, after FDU had drawn even at 9-9. Valluzzi scored twice, 82 seconds apart, to put the Blue Devils in front for good.
A graduate of Daniel Hand High School, Valluzzi scored four points, with two goals and two assists in the Blue Devils home win over Hartford. She was efficient on the offensive end, scoring her seven goals on 10 shots. She also added a ground ball in the win over FDU.
Cowdin also had a career day on the week, winning a school-record tying 10 draw controls in the win over Hartford. She finished the week with 15 draw controls, four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
The Blue Devils are back in action this week, travelling to Merrimack on Wednesday, before hosting Saint Francis U on Saturday.
