Lacrosse Tabbed Seventh In NEC Coaches Poll
Blue Devils open season on February 22
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team was tabbed seventh in the Northeast Conference preseason coaches poll, announced Wednesday. The Blue Devils open their 2023 campaign at Columbia on February 22nd.
The Blue Devils will be anchored by the 2022 NCAA saves per game leader, Kya Risher. A junior, Risher averaged 12.5 saver per game over her 2022 campaign and ranked 25th in the nation in save percentage. The Blue Devils return their top three offensive threats from a season ago as well. Olivia Gianakos tallied 26 points, including a team-best 23 goals.
Wagner and LIU both received four first place votes in the poll, with Wagner being atop the poll. Sacred Heart earned a first place as well, and is tagged third, in front of Merrimack, Saint Francis U and Stonehill. The Blue Devils slot in behind Stonehill, and FDU and Howard round out the poll.
