Valluzzi leads CCSU with a pair of goals
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team dropped a 14-5 decision to Northeast Conference host LIU, Saturday at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

- Lauren Valluzzi opened the scoring, netting an unassisted tally 4:49 into the first quarter
- The Sharks responded just under two minutes later, and the score remained knotted 1-1 until Olivia Poggi put the Blue Devils back on top with 2:15 to play in the opening period
- Olivia Fantigrossi scored a free position goal with 60 seconds left in the first quarter, tying the score and starting a 6-0 run that built an 8-2 edge with 4:56 to paly before halftime
- Valluzzi netted her second of the game with 3:43 to play before intermission, but the Sharks struck twice in the final 2:18 to take a 10-3 halftime advantage
- LIUs scored the only three goals of the third quarter, for a 13-3 lead entering the final period
- Kate Ravizza and Talie Richardson sandwiched free position goals around a tally from Lindsey Lucia to provide the final margin

- Kya Risher made 10 stops in goal for the Blue Devils
- Olivia Gianakos caused four turnovers in the game and had three ground balls, both team highs, as well as assisting on Valluzzi's second goal
- Valluzzi had two goals and two ground balls
- Madison Cowdin led the team with four draw controls, while Richardson won three
