Jackie Branthover Named NEC Co-Rookie of the Week
Freshman made 11 saves in goal in first victory of the season
Central Connecticut freshman goalkeeper was named the Northeast Conference Women's Lacrosse Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday, it was announced by the league office. Branthover and the Blue Devils posted their first victory of the season, in triple overtime, in a 9-8 win on the road at Quinnipiac last week.
Branthover earned her first collegiate victory while helping the Blue Devils to their first win of the season. The freshman made 11 saves between the pipes and held the Bobcats scoreless in the final 5:50 of regulation as well as the three overtime periods. Branthover ranks second in the league with 9.0 saves per game and her .471 save percentage is third on the circuit.
Branthover now has four games this season with 10 or more saves, including a season-high 15 earlier this season at Colorado.
The Blue Devils are in action on Monday at Lafayette at 5 p.m.
