Women's Lacrosse Student-Athletes Named to IWLCA Academic Honor Roll
Five Blue Devils among 256 student-athletes recognized.
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team had five student-athletes recognized on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association/Zag Sports Division I Academic Honor Roll released on Monday. The CCSU honorees were Brigit Hogan, Elyse Malecki, Jessica Sudock and Morgan Wallace.The IWLCA recognized 256 student-athletes from 80 institutions who were nominated by their schools and have achieved at least junior status with a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better.
Hogan, a graduate student studying Physical Education, was an important part of the CCSU attack in 2015. She played in 15 games and scored 11 goals with two assists.
Malecki, a criminology and psychology student, completed her junior year having appeared in all 16 games for the Blue Devils. She finished the season with five goals to go with 12 ground balls and four draw controls.
Senior exercise science student Jessica Sudock started all 16 games in the Central midfield. She was second on the team with 18 caused turnovers and added 28 ground balls and six draw controls.
Morgan Wallace, a junior accounting student, started all 16 games as well. She finished the 2015 season with 12 ground balls, three caused turnovers and a draw control.
The Blue Devils squad was named an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad last week after posting an impressive 3.39 GPA in the fall semester of 2014, and then another impressive mark of 3.33 in the spring semester of 2015.
Central finished the 2015 season, the first under head coach Tanya Kotowicz, in a tie for fourth place in the Northeast Conference with a 3-4 league record, including three wins in their final four games. They topped Wagner and Mount St. Mary's, who finished the regular season tied for second place, in their final two contests of the year.
