Central T2nd, Mullen T1st at St. Peters
Monte Mullen led the Blue Devils at St. Peters sharing the top spot individually.
The Central Connecticut men's golf team finished as shared runner-up on the team leader board after a single round at the St. Peters Metro Honda Peacock Invitational. The Blue Devils placed ahead of all Northeast Conference opponents in contention.
Tournament play was held at Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Neshanic Station, NJ. St. Peters hosted the event which was scheduled for just one round on Tuesday.
Only Fairfield (297) placed ahead of the Blue Devils winning by four strokes. Central (301) finished second ahead along with Monmouth (301). Hofstra (304) and La Salle (304) rounded out the field's top-five.
Sophomore Monte Mullen (72) shot even and shared the event's first place spot. Mullen tied with five other competitors in the field. The second year Blue Devil leads the team in top-ten individual finishes and adds his fifth of the season after today. Mullen has three consecutive top-ten finishes.
Both seniors Dan Fanion and Matthew DeJohn finished with scores of 76 each tieing for 15th place individually. Freshman Connor Murphy (77) tied for 20th place overall while sophomore Kevin Jud (80) tied for 34th.
Central will be back in action on April 28th at the Bryant University Prisco Boulet Shootout. The event is scheduled for one round and will be played at Wannamoisett Country Club in Rumford, RI.
