Swimming and Diving Competes in Second Day at Frank Elm Invite
Blue Devils will complete the three-day meet on Sunday
The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team continued competition at the Frank Elm Invite on Saturday. The Blue Devils sit in sixth place in the 10-team field after the second day of competition.
Junior Maddy Garber finished third in the 100 yard breaststroke in a time of 1:03.19 to earn 27 points for the Blue Devils. Garber was the top qualifier in the morning prelim in the same event, coming in in a time of 1:02.57.
The Blue Devils started the night with a seventh place finish in the 200 yard medley relay. The team of freshman Alexis Fredricks, Garber, senior Sabree Thomas and senior Christine Rasile finished in a time of 1:44.42 to earn 46 team points.
In the 200 individual medley sophomore Aidan Devers finished 12th overall and fourth in the B final with a time of 4:29.74, earning 15 points.
Thomas was 14th overall in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.92, picking up 13 points.
In the 200 freestyle finals Rasile was sixth in a time of 1:51.89, good for 24 points. Junior Lauren Czulewicz was 20th in the same race in a time of 1:53.91.
Joining Garber in the 100 breaststroke was freshman Erika Maercklein who finished 21st in a time of 1:06.19.
Alexis Fredricks finished 12th overall and fourth in the B final of the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 57.52. She earned 15 points with her finish. Devers was 17th in the same event in a time of 57.71 and sophomore Kaitlyn Troy was 21st in 58.05.
The Blue Devils placed 14th in the 800 yard freestyle relay to earn 28 points. The team of Devers, Thomas, Lauren Czulewicz and Rasile finished in the time of 7:42.87.
The third and final day of the Frank Elm Invite will take place on Sunday.
