Garber, Durham Earn CSCAA Scholar All-America Recognition
The pair helped the Blue Devils to a third-straight NEC title this season.
Juniors Maddy Garber and Annemarie Durham earned College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America recognition it was announced Wednesday. To be recognized, a student-athlete must achieve a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have participated in their respective NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
A total of 997 student-athletes were named to the first team, while 954 were named as Honorable Mention selections. These students have similarly achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at a regional or zone qualifying meet.
Garber was named the 2017 Northeast Conference Swimmer of the Meet and set school- and NEC-records in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. She helped lead the Blue Devils to their third straight NEC title and swam at the NCAA Championships, becoming the first CCSU swimmer to advance to the championships since Jamie Crowley in 2005 and 2006.
Durham, who was an Honorable Mention selection, was named the NEC Diver of the Year at the conference championships and also competed in both the 1- and 3-meter events at the NCAA Zone A Championships. Durham set CCSU and pool records in both events during the season.
