Durham Wins 3 Meter Diving at Frank Elm Invite at Rutgers With New School Record
Annemarie Durham takes first in 3 meter diving event on Friday
Junior Annemarie Durham took first place with a new school record in the 3 meter diving event as the Central Connecticut swimming and diving team sits in fifth place after day one of the Frank Elm Invitational at Rutgers University on Friday night.
Durham scored 271.70 points in the event to earn 32 points for her team. The score is a new school record. She placed ahead of three Northeastern divers in the event as she topped the old record by almost seven points.
The Blue Devils began the night with a 10th place finish in the 200 freestyle relay. Junior Lauren Czulewicz, sophomore Kaitlyn Troy, freshman Erika Maercklein and senior Christine Rasile came in in a time of 1:35.96 to earn 34 points in the event.
Freshman Valentina Gomez finished eighth in the 500 yard freestyle event in a time of 4:58.19 to earn 22 points. Sophomore Aidan Devers was 14th in the same event in a time of 5:01.23.
Junior Maddy Garber was 18th overall (second in the C Final) in the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:06.95. Senior Lisa Ward was 22nd in a time of 2:08.82.
Rasile finished 14th in the 50 freestyle in a time of 23.72. Lauren Czulewicz was 24th in a time of 24.20 in the same event.
The Blue Devils ended the night with a fifth place finish in the 400 yard medley relay finishing in a time of 3:48.04. Freshman Alexis Fredricks, Garber, senior Sabree Thomas and Rasile combined for the 50 points in the event for CCSU.
The Blue Devils sit in fifth place out of 10 teams after the first day of competition.
