Women's Golf in Fourth, Abrahamova Third After Second Round of NEC Championships
Abrahamova shoots 72 in second round, moves to third place
Freshman Kristyna Abrahamova shot a second round score of 72 and moved to third place overall in the second round of the 2017 Northeast Conference women's golf championships on Saturday. The Blue Devils sit in fourth place as a team after posting a score of 312 in the second round.
Abrahamova's 72 was the second best score of the day, behind only a 71 from tournament leader Ellen Nighbor of Sacred Heart.
The Pioneers sit in first place with a 17 stroke lead after the second round. They have a two round score of 601, followed by Fairleigh Dickinson (618), LIU Brooklyn (623), CCSU (626), Wagner (634), St. Francis U (647) and St. Francis Brooklyn (796).
Abrahamova's two round score of 149 is one shot out of second place and seven shots off the lead of Nighbor.
Seniors Ella Williams and Kaitlyn Stoddart are each tied for 14th place overall with a two round score of 159. Williams shot 81 on Saturday while Stoddart fired a round of 79.
Junior Cecy Gutierrez sits in a tie for 20th place overall after a second straight round of 80. Junior Tara Whelan fired an 82 and is in 22nd place overall.
The third and final round of the tournament will take place on Sunday.
