Women's Golf in Sixth Place After Two Rounds at Quinnipiac Classic
Stoddart and Abrahamova pace Blue Devils on Monday
The Central Connecticut women's golf team sits in sixth place after the first two rounds of the Quinnipiac Classic held on Monday at the New Haven Country Club. The tournament is being hosted by Quinnipiac University and NHCC is located in Hamden, CT.
The Blue Devils shot a round one score of 340 and then improved eight strokes in their second 18 of the day to post a score of 672 after Monday's first two rounds.
St. John's leads the pack (636), followed by Albany and Sacred Heart (652), Navy (665), Quinnipiac (667) and then the Blue Devils. Central sits sixth in the 11 team field.
Senior Kaitlyn Stoddart and freshman Kristyna Abrahamova led the way for the Blue Devils through the first 36 holes on Monday. Stoddart shot 87 in the first round and improved seven strokes in the second round (80), while Abrahamova fired an 83 followed by an 84. The pair sit in a tie for 16th place overall.
Junior Tara Whelan shot 85-83 (168) and is just behind her teammates in a tie for 20th place.
Junior Cecy Gutierrez shot 86-85 (171) and is alone in 31st place. Senior Ella Williams shot 86-86 (172) and is tied for 32nd place overall.
The third and final round will take place on Tuesday morning.
