Stoddart Sixth, Women's Golf Eighth at Navy Spring Invitational on Saturday
Round two will take place on Sunday morning
The Central Connecticut women's golf team sits in eighth place out of 13 teams after the first round of the Navy Spring Invitational on Saturday. The tournament is being played at the Naval Academy Golf Course in Annapolis, MD.
Round two of the tournament will take place on Sunday morning.
The Blue Devils shot a team score of 337 aand sit just nine strokes out of the top-3 in the tournament.
Senior Kaitlyn Stoddart paced the Blue Devils and sits in sixth place after a round one score of 78 (+6). Freshman Kristyna Abrahamova shot 85 (+13) in the first round and is tied for 29th place.
Senior Ella Williams, this week's co-Northeast Conference Golfer of the Week, shot 86 and is tied for 33rd place. Junior Tara Whelan shot 88 and is tied for 38th. Classmate Cecy Gutierrez shot 91 and is tied for 50th place.
Freshman Emma Heim, playing as an individual, also shot a 91 and is tied for 50th place overall.
Harvard leads the field after a score of 310, followed by Lehigh (316), Youngstown State and LIU Brooklyn (328) and Navy and Dartmouth (331). Fairleigh Dickinson (332) is seventh, followed by CCSU, then St. Francis U (345), Siena (354), Niagara (363) and LaSalle (402).
The second round of the tournament will take place on Sunday.
