Women's Golf in Third After Opening Round at Northeast Conference Championships
Blue Devils shoot day one score of 314 and are one stroke back of second
The Central Connecticut women's golf team shot a day one score of 314 and are in third place after the first round of the Northeast Conference Championships on Friday. The tournament is being played at the LPGA International-Jones Course in Daytona Beach, FL. The course is a par-72.
Sacred Heart leads after Friday's first round with a team score of 297. Fairleigh Dickinson in second at 313, followed by CCSU (314), LIU Brooklyn (317), Wagner (321), St. Francis U (330) and St. Francis Brooklyn (405).
Two Blue Devils sit in the top eight in the individual standings, led by freshman Kristyna Abrahamova who shot a round one score of 77. She is six shots off the lead and is tied for fifth place overall.
Senior Ella Williams fired a 78 in the first round and sits in a tie for eighth place. Junior Tara Whelan shot a 79 and is tied for 13th place.
Senior Kaitlyn Stoddart shot a round one score of 80, as did junior Cecy Gutierrez, and they sit in a tie for 17th place overall in the 36 player field.
The second round will begin on Saturday morning.
