Women's Golf Opens Spring Season at Kingsmill Women's Intercollegiate
Blue Devils will complete first tournament of the spring on Tuesday morning
The Central Connecticut women's golf team sits in 20th place after the first two rounds of the 2017 Kingsmill Intercollegiate. The tournament is being hosted by William and Mary and is being played at the River Course at Kingsmill Resort. It is a par 72. The teams played 36 holes on Monday and will finish with an 18 hole shotgun start on Tuesday.
Central shot 315 as a team in the first round and was in 15th place out of 22 teams. The followed that up with a second round score of 331.
Freshman Kristyna Abrahamova led the Blue Devils in the first round with a score of 75, just three over par. Senior Ella Williams fired a 77 (+9) and classmate Kaitlyn Stoddart shot 78 (+11) to help pace the Blue Devils.
Junior Cecy Gutierrez shot 85 and classmate Tara Whelan shot 91 to complete the scoring in the first round for CCSU.
In the second round it was Williams who led the Blue Devils with a score of 81, for a two round total of 158, good for a tie for 62nd place overall. Abrahamova shot 82 in round two and is at 157, good for a tie for 53rd place.
Gutierrez fired an 83 in round two, followed by Stoddart who had an 85 and Whelan who shot 88. Stoddart is tied for 92nd while Gutierrez is tied for 107th overall.
The tournament will finish with 18 holes on Tuesday, beginning at 8:15 a.m.
