Women's Golf Climbs to Seventh at Navy Fall Invitational
Kristyna Abrahamova finishes fourth in her first collegiate tournament
The Central Connecticut women's golf team shot a day two score of 321 and climbed to seventh place overall after the second and final round of the Navy Fall Invitational on Sunday. Freshman Kristyna Abrahamova finished in fourth place overall in her first collegiate tournament. The tournament was played at the Naval Academy Golf Course in Annapolis, MD.
The Blue Devils sat in 10th place following Saturday first round with a team score of 322. They shot one shot better on Sunday and posted a two day total of 643. They climbed to seventh place in the 16 team field.
Abrahamova was superb in her first collegiate tournament shooting Sunday's best round in the entire 87 player field. She shot a 73 in the second round to go along with her first round score of 78 to finish at 151 (+7) for her two rounds. She was just three shots behind the tournament winner.
Junior Cecy Gutierrez shot an 84 on Sunday and finished in a tie for 43rd place overall with a two day score of 163. Senior Kaitlyn Stoddart tied for 49th place overall after an 83 on Sunday, giving her a two day score of 164. Junior Ella Williams improved four strokes from Saturday and shot 81 on Sunday to finish in a tie for 54th place.
Freshman Emma Heim, also playing in her first collegiate tournament, shot 87 on Sunday and finished in a tie for 73rd place overall.
