Women's XC Earns 13th out of 37 at NEICAAAs
Junior Elizabeth Eberhardt finished first for the Blue Devils, taking 23rd out of 251 runners.
The Central Connecticut women's cross country team finished 13th out of 37 teams at the New England Cross Country Championships in Westfield, MA on Sunday. Junior Elizabeth Eberhardt finished first for the Blue Devils, coming in 23rd place out of 251 runners with a time of 17:57.92. Eberhardt finished just under one minute behind first-place winner Monica Adler of Boston University.
Junior Krisztina Dearborn was the second Blue Devil to cross the finish line, coming in 52nd place overall with a time of 18:24.98. Dearborn was followed by freshman Jazmin Booker, who finished just under 15 seconds later in 72nd place. Rounding out the scoring for Central was freshman Caylee Richardson, who finished the race in 19:13.06 for 125th place, and sophomore Shannon McBride, who crossed the finish line in 19:17.85 for 130th.
Freshmen Ally Gates and Brandy LeClair also competed for Central in the women's varsity race.
Boston College finished first among the teams, earning the New England Cross Country Champion title, and was followed by Vermont, Dartmouth, Sacred Heart, MIT, Yale, Boston University, Williams, Quinnipiac, Bryant, Tufts and Stonehill. Central finished just four points behind Stonehill and was followed by Brown, New Hampshire, Holy Cross, Hartford, Southern Connecticut, the University of Connecticut, Maine, Bentley, Fairfield, Bowdoin, Keene State, American International, UMASS Amherst, Brandeis, Merrimack, Northeastern, St. Michael's, Springfield, St. Anselm, UMASS Lowell, New Haven, Eastern Connecticut, Franklin Pierce and Lyndon State.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Friday, Oct. 19 for the CCSU Mini Meet at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT. The women's race is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
