Women's XC Takes 2nd at Ted Owen Invite
Junior Elizabeth Eberhardt finished fifth overall for the Blue Devils.
The Central Connecticut women's cross country team earned second place in a field of 11 teams Saturday in the 10th Annual Ted Owen Cross Country Invitational at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT.
Junior Elizabeth Eberhardt was the top finisher for the Blue Devils, coming in fifth with a time of 18:04.31, just under 20 seconds behind the first place finisher, Bentley sophomore Tara Dooley. Eberhardt was followed by junior Krisztina Dearborn just under four seconds later with a time of 18:08.26.
A trio of freshman consisting of Jazmin Booker (19:05.29), Brandy LeClair (19:19.75) and Caylee Richardson (19:27.74) completed the scoring for Central. They finished 19th, 24th and 29th, respectively. Freshman Ally Gates (20:20.05), sophomore Taylor LePage (20:48.64) and sophomore Jodi Russo (21:51.69) also competed for Central.
Marist won the 5K race followed by Central in second, Hartford in third and the University of Connecticut in fourth. Bentley took fifth place followed by Wagner, Rhode Island, Northeastern and Southern Connecticut. Fairleigh Dickinson and Franklin Pierce rounded out the 11 team field.
The Blue Devils will return to action in the New England Championships at Stanley Park in Westfield, MA on Sunday, Oct. 7. The race will begin at 12 p.m.
