Women's Soccer Trio Selected to NEWISA Senior Bowl
Seniors Jewel Robinson, Nikola Deiter and Allison Kelley have earned the distinction.
Seniors Nikola Deiter, Jewel Robinson and Allison Kelley of the Central Connecticut women's soccer team were selected to play in the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association's (NEWISA) Senior Bowl this Saturday, Dec. 7, at Merrimack College. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
All three Blue Devils significantly contributed to CCSU's 5-3 conference record this season and helped the squad clinch an NEC tournament berth. Central ultimately finished fourth at the championships.
In her final season as a Blue Devil, Deiter saw just over 1,652 minutes in goal. She started in all 19 games and posted 96 saves, a goals against average of 1.74 and one shutout.
Robinson wrapped up her senior campaign registering two goals and two assists for six points. The defender started 17 games and ranked fourth on the team in points.
Kelley started all 19 games for CCSU, scoring one goal and adding an assist for a three-point season total. Kelley's goal was a game-winner that came in overtime against NEC foe Bryant on Nov. 1 to keep the Blue Devils in the hunt for an NEC Tournament appearance.
The trio represents three of only four student-athletes from the Northeast Conference chosen to play in Saturday's Senior Bowl. The Blue Devils are joined by Sacred Heart's Sydney Judkins.
