Women's Soccer Earns NSCAA Team Academic Award
The Blue Devils maintained a cumulative team GPA of 3.27 over the 2012-13 school year.
The Central Connecticut women's soccer team was honored with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 season, the NSCAA announced Thursday. The Blue Devils maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.27 over the academic year to earn the award.
A total of 862 soccer teams (269 men, 593 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 academic year.
Of that total, 182 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized, including CCSU. The Central men's squad maintained a 3.04.
From the Northeast Conference, the CCSU women's soccer team was one of seven, joining Bryant, Fairleigh Dickinson, LIU Brooklyn, Mount St. Mary's, Saint Francis U and Wagner on the prestigious list.
The Blue Devils completed this past season with an NEC Playoff appearance in which they finished fourth place overall and tallied a 5-3 conference record. CCSU was the only squad to top the NEC Champion Saint Francis U Red Flash in the regular season.
