Northeast Conference Announces Men's Outdoor Track & Field All-Conference Honors
The Central Connecticut men's outdoor track & field team collected All-Northeast Conference honors in 13 events it was announced on Thursday afternoon by the league office. Junior Miles Fye-Moore earned all-conference honors in three events after earning Most Outstanding Track Performer (Sprints) honors at last month's NEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Fye-Moore won gold in the 200 meter (21.36) and silver in the 100 meter (10.74) events, while helping the 4x100 relay take gold at the NEC Championships. The championship 4x100 relay team included Fye-Moore, junior Cam Whalen, freshmen Ali Diaby and Jovan Dixon and clocked a time of 41.34 to earn All-NEC First Team honors.
Freshman Eddie Nicholas also earned All-NEC First Team honors with a win in the steeple chase, clocking a time of 9:12.68.
The Blue Devils had seven honorees on the Second Team. In addition to Fye-Moore in the 100 meter, Diaby earned honors in both the 200 meter and 400 meter events. He ran 21.65 in the 200 meter and 47.40 in the 400 meter. Senior Richard Grudzwick ran 1:54.15 in the 800 meter to place second. Sophomore Elias Field turned in a time of 30:57.56 to make the list in the 10,000 meter run. Rounding out the CCSU honorees were senior Nick Kocienda in the hammer throw (57.79 meters) and sophomore Andrew McCarthy in the discus (50.87 meters).
The Blue Devils also had three honorees on the All-Rookie Team. Diaby (200m) and Nicholas (steeple chase) were joined by freshman Jake Ireland, who earned a spot after placing third with a time of 3:55.50 in the 1500 meter run.
