Men's Outdoor Track & Field Picked Third in Coaches' Poll
The Blue Devils were selected third behind Mount St. Mary's and Wagner
The Central Connecticut men's outdoor track and field team was picked third in the 2021 preseason coaches poll. The Blue Devils did not receive any first-place votes.
The CCSU outdoor track and field team did not compete in 2020 due to safety and health protocols.
Central finished second in the 2019 outdoor track and field NEC Championships. Senior Richard Grudzwick took first place in the 800 meter run, posting a time of 1:52:10. Andrew McCarthy finished second in the discus with a throw of 46.35 meters. In total, the Blue Devils earned 150 points and 12 medals.
Mount St. Mary's was tabbed the preseason favorite, collecting five first-place votes. Wagner was selected second, receiving three first-place votes. Saint Francis U received two first-place votes. LIU, Fairleigh Dickinson, Bryant, Sacred Heart, Merrimack, and St. Francis Brooklyn rounded out the poll.
The 2021 NEC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place on May 1-2 at Bryant University in Smithfield, RI.
