Reece Wilson honored as one of the nation's top student'athletes.
The Capitol One Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team was released and Central Connecticut senior Reece Wilson was honored as a member of the District 1 roster. COSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) selected the 11-man NCAA Division I list early this November.
COSIDA recognizes the top student-athletes in the nation for their performance athletically and academically. District 1 includes teams from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
Wilson is an accounting major and held a GPA of 3.84 which landed him on the honorary roster. The senior captain is a 2012 Herman Trophy Candidate and was named Northeast Conference Player of the Week twice this season (9/17 and 10/22). He helped lead Central to an 8-8-2 overall record and a 6-3-1 conference mark, good for fourth place at the conclusion of the conference regular season.
Leading the team with 24 points, Wilson netted and impressive nine goals and also knotched six assists on the year. He finished the season with a shot-on-goal percentage of .551 and had two game-winning goals.
