Wilson Tabbed NEC Player of the Week
Reece Wilson was recognized as co-player of the week by the NEC.
The Northeast Conference named senior Reece Wilson of the Central Connecticut men's soccer team co-player of the week for his performance this weekend. Wilson earned the award for the first time this season today, Monday, October 22nd.
Wilson helped lead the Blue Devils to a 2-0-0 record this weekend defeating Mount St. Mary's convincingly on Friday night 4-1 and then shutting-out Sacred Heart 2-0 on Sunday afternoon. Central is now 5-1-1 in the NEC and 7-6-2 overall which places them second in the conference behind Fairleigh Dickinson (8-4-3, 5-0-2 NEC).
The senior captain scored in each match and also posted an assist against The Mount. His first goal came in the 67th minute against Mount St. Mary's. Wilson beat the defender with an individual move inside of the box and fired a shot that went in off of the right post. His score put the Blue Devils up 3-1 over the Mountaineers leading to an eventual 4-1 victory.
Against Sacred Heart, the senior captain scored in the 68th minute off of a pass from teammate Manny Nobre. Wilson took the feed and beat the keeper to his right netting his seventh goal of the season capping a 2-0 win over the Pioneers.
In both matches, Wilson had two goals and one assist giving him five points over the weekend. He leads the team in goals with seven and points with 20 after his weekend performance. Wilson also leads the team in assists with six.
