Men's Soccer Wins Fifth Straight
Bogle picked up his fourth goal of the season and Menzies his seventh assist.
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team won their fifth straight game on Thursday night. The Blue Devils defeated Long Island by a score of 1-0 in a physical match. The win improves Central's record on the season to 8-6 and 5-1 in NEC play. With 15 points, the Blue Devils are currently first in the NEC standings.
Central scored in the 28th minute of play to take the lead. Junior Jesse Menzies collected the ball at midfield and lofted a pass toward the Long Island net. Sophomore Eddy Bogle beat the keeper to the loose ball and scored into the empty net.
It was Bogle's fourth goal of the year and Menzies' seventh assist.
After Central took the lead they fought hard to protect it. Senior Ognen Stamenkovik and junior Mamoudou Dioubate led the defense in front of junior keeper Anthony Occhialini.
Ochialini picked up his eighth win of the season in the net and his fifth shutout, third of NEC play. He made four saves in the match.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Sunday when they take on Sacred Heart.
