Men's Soccer Tops RMU, 3-0
Sophomore Eddy Bogle produced two of the Blue Devils three goals. Junior Reece Wilson had the other Central goal.
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team defeated Robert Morris by three goals on Friday afternoon. The Blue Devils offensive outburst was led by a pair of goals from sophomore Eddy Bogle. The win improves the Blue Devils to 5-6 on the season and 2-1 in Northeast Conference play.
Bogle scored the Blue Devils first goal of the match in the 24th minute of play. He then provided the cap on the scoring with a goal in the 65th minute. In between Bogle's goals, junior Reece Wilson found the back of the net with the help of senior Jesse Menzies.
On the first Blue Devil score junior goalkeeper Anthony Occhialini pushed out from the net after scooping up a loose ball. He launched the ball into Robert Morris's half of the field where junior Reece Wilson won a jump ball with his defender and headed the ball to Bogle. Bogle beat his defender down the right side and shot back across the keeper, into the back of the net.
Central wasted little time getting back on the board in the second half. Wilson delivered a strike from the center of the field after receiving a pass from Menzies. The goal came in the 60th minute of play.
The final Blue Devils score came in the 65th minute. Bogle and Robert Morris's goalkeeper both went to the ground after a loose ball when the keeper failed to secure Ognen Stamenkovik's pass.
Wilson also contributed an assist on Bogle's first goal of the game.
The Colonials had two shots on goal in the match, the first was saved by Occhialini. On the second Occhialini slipped, but Stamenkovik came across the net and kicked the ball away.
Occhialini improves to 5-4 on the season with the victory in the net. The Blue Devils will return to action Sunday at 2 p.m. when they host the Red Flash of St. Francis (PA). The game will be the second of a scheduled men's and women's doubleheader at Willow Brook Park.
