Men's Soccer Runs Streak to Three Games
Anthony Occhialini's shutout and Alpha Dioubate's breakaway goal run men's soccer's winning streak to three games.
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team captured their third straight victory with a 1-0 win over Binghamton on Friday night. The Blue Devils improve to 3-2 on the season with the victory and they move above .500 for the first time this season.
A 0-0 stalemate was finally cracked in the 72nd minute when junior Alpha Dioubate turned a Binghamton miscue into a breakaway goal. It was Dioubate's first goal in the blue and white and one of only two shots on goal for the Blue Devils in the match.
Neither team was able to do much on the attack as both sides registered only two shots on goal.
The difference in the game was that Blue Devil junior keeper Anthony Occhialini kept both of Binghamton's shots in front of him. He picks up his second shutout of the season and has now allowed only one goal in the last three games. Individually, Occhialini improves to 3-1 in the net this season.
The Blue Devils will play again on Sunday when they take the pitch with the Albany Great Danes.
