Men's Soccer Loses to Albany
Men's Soccer finished with a 1-1 record at the Binghamton Tournament.
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team dropped their match with the University of Albany on Sunday afternoon. The 2-0 loss snaps the Blue Devils three game winning streak and sets their season record at 3-3. Central finished the weekend at Binghamton with a 1-1 record.
The Blue Devils and Great Danes were tied at 0-0 throughout the first half, but seven minutes into the second half Albany's Brandon Wilson gave his team a 1-0 lead. The Great Danes added another goal late in the game when Anthony DeSalvo tipped a pass into the right corner of the net. That goal came in the 88th minute of the match.
Central's offensive attack was led by junior Alpha Dioubate who took three shots in the game. He also has one of the Blue Devils four shots on goal.
In the net, junior Anthony Occhialini made three saves. He has only allowed three goals in his last four games.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Friday against Hartwick. That game will be part of the Nike Classic hosted by the University of New Hampshire.
All-Tournament Team
Three Blue Devils were selected as all-tournament for their performance this weekend in the games against Binghamton and Albany. Junior goalkeeper Anthony Occhialini, Mamoudou Dioubate and Reece Wilson all received recognition.
