Men's Soccer Falls at the Mount
The Blue Devils fell to Mount St. Mary's in their Northeast Conference opener.
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team opened Northeast Conference play with a loss at Mount St. Mary's on Friday afternoon. The loss drops the Blue Devils to 3-6 on the season and 0-1 in NEC action. The Mount notched a single goal in each half to come away with the 2-0 victory.
The Mountaineers scored early in the match with a goal in the 6th minute of action. That score was the result of a quick pass from Chris Wheeler to Zoncher Dennis, who connected on a shot to the upper right corner of the net.
The Mount scored again in the 63rd minute when Alex Ockford directed Ian Hendrie's corner kick into the net.
The Blue Devil offense was able match the Mountaineers with six shots on goal. Junior keeper Anthony Occhialini saved four of the Mountaineers the six shots.
The Blue Devils return to action on Sunday when they square off with nationally ranked Monmouth in West Long Branch, NJ. That game is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start time.
