Men's Basketball Adds Two For 2018-19
The Blue Devils return to action on Thursday at Fairleigh Dickinson.
Head coach Donyell Marshall announced the addition of two student-athletes for the Central Connecticut men's basketball team during the early signing period on Tuesday. Michael Underwood and Karrington Wallace will join the Blue Devils for the 2018-19 season.
"We have added two student-athletes who are going to be very valuable as we continue to build a successful program going forward," Marshall said.
Underwood is a 6-foot-5 wing from Southwest High School in Fort Worth, TX. As a junior, he was named District 7-5A Offensive MVP and was named to the All-District First Team. Underwood earned All-District 7-5A Second Team honors as a sophomore.
"We want to continue to find shooters, which is what Mike brings to the program," Marshall said. "He also has a great attitude and is willing to do whatever is asked to help the team win."
Wallace is a 6-foot-7 forward from Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster, PA. He helped Archbishop Wood post a 28-3 mark as a junior and win a Class 5A state title and Catholic League championship. He had three blocked shots in the state championship game for the Vikings, who are among the top teams in the competitive Philadelphia Catholic League.
"Karrington is a very similar player to Mustafa [Jones]," Marshall said. "He's a very athletic, high-energy player who can step out and shoot, as well as block shots. He is coming from a winning program and we're excited about his abilities."
Central is 8-7 on the year and 1-1 in Northeast Conference play. CCSU returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 4, when it travels to Fairleigh Dickinson.
