Here are some notes on the Blue Devils heading into Saturday's action:
Today's Game
It is Week Four of the college football season and the Blue Devils of Central Connecticut are heading to New York to play the Great Danes of Albany. The Blue Devils are 0-3 entering tonight's meeting with the Danes (1-2). Also, CCSU has lost its contest with Albany the last two seasons.
Series History
This is the 18th meeting between CCSU and Albany on the football field. Albany holds a 12-5 advantage in the all-time series, but the slate has been even with both teams winning two of the last four contests. Albany has won two straight in the series, including 63-34 last season.
Now a Non-Conference Game
The last 13 meetings between these programs have been as Northeast Conference opponents. However, Albany's move to the Colonial Athletic Association means that this is once again a non-conference game, as it was in four meetings prior to Albany's move to Division I.
100+ Rushing Yards
The Blue Devils have rushed for 100+ yards in 26 consecutive games. The last time CCSU failed to reach 100 rushing yards was Nov. 6, 2010 against Robert Morris.
Closing in on 1,500
Junior Rob Hollomon is three games into his second season with the Central Connecticut football team and he is just 25 yards shy of 1,500 as a Blue Devil. Hollomon rushed for 1,104 yards last season and has already rushed for 371 this year. In addition, his five rushing touchdowns this season have already matched the five that he posted in 2012.
Hollomon's National Ranks
Junior Rob Hollomon is among the top running backs in the nation in several statistical categories entering the fourth week of the season. He ranks sixth in rushing yards (371), seventh in rushing yards per game (123.7) and fifth in all-purpose yards per game (201).
