Lawton Earns NEC Rookie of the Week Honors
After her performance in CCSU Softball’s three-game series against Stonehill this weekend, Grace Lawton earned her first Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week honor. She was also named a Prime Performer alongside teammates Paige Stringer, Kendall LaMorte, and Kaylee Whittaker.
After her performance in CCSU Softball's three-game series against Stonehill this weekend, Grace Lawton earned her first Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week honor. She was also named a Prime Performer alongside teammates Paige Stringer, Kendall LaMorte, and Kaylee Whittaker.
Lawton went 4-5, hitting two homeruns (a two-run homer and a three-run homer) and snagging six RBI. She finished the weekend with a 2.000 slugging percentage and an .800 on-base percentage.
Stringer earned a spot as a Prime Performer going 7-11 with two homeruns and four RBI, while LaMorte went 4-8 with one homer and five RBI.
Whittaker put in 18 innings of work this weekend, notching three wins in the pitching circle, including two shutouts. She fanned 11 batters and only surrendered three runs.
