CCSU Softball Beats Wagner in 13 Inning Contest

LOCATION: New Britain, CT / CCSU Softball Field 

RECORDS: CCSU (9-6, 3-0 NEC), Wagner (2-13, 0-3 NEC)  

KEY MOMENTS  

• The Seahawks came in hot, scoring in the top of the first. With two outs and runners on first and second, Penelope Russ doubled to right center to drive in a run, making the score 1-0. 

• In the bottom of the third Paige Stringer hit a single down the left field line with Adriana Manory on second. Manory was able to make it home to even the score, 1-1. 

• Wagner made it 2-1 in the top of the seventh when Samantha Tran scored from third on an error. 

• CCSU battled back in the bottom of the seventh, evening the score when Ashlyn Desaulniers homered to left field. This sent the game into extra innings. 

• The Seahawks scored in the top of the tenth. Justine Carranza sent a ball toward third and reached first on a fielder's choice. Russ was thrown out at second, while Jordyn Dulken scored to give Wagner the 3-2 lead. 

• The Blue Devils were able to stay alive in the bottom of the tenth, scoring Molly Bruyns on a sacrifice fly to right field from Ava Cino. 

• Central was able to end the game and secure the win when Brooke Fedison singled to drive Cino home in the bottom of the 13th inning. 

 NOTES   

• Desaulniers hit her first collegiate home run in today's game. 

• Kaylee Whittaker secured her fourth win of the week in the pitching circle, pitching a total of 28 innings in three games this weekend. 

• CCSU remains undefeated at home (6-0) and in conference play (3-0).
