Men's Soccer Shutout at Seton Hall in Season-Opener
CCSU is back in action at Rider on Wednesday, Sept. 4.
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team was shutout at Seton Hall on Friday to open the 2019 season, falling 6-0 at the Red Bulls Training Facility in Whippany, NJ. The Pirates scored twice in the opening 20 minutes and would tally three goals on either side of halftime to down the Blue Devils for the second straight season. Sophomore Jason Dubrovich would make five saves in goal for the Blue Devils.

KEY MOMENTS
- Seton Hall opened the scoring at the 14:59 mark when Stephen Elias scored his first of three goals on the night. Eden O'Leary scored just under four minutes later to double the SHU lead.
- Freshman Jamie Simpson forced Andreas Nota to make a save just a minute after the Pirates' opening goal. It was the Blue Devils' first shot on goal of the game.
- Elias scored two goals for Seton Hall in the opening 13 minutes of the second half to push the lead to five goals and complete his hat trick.

- CCSU Men's Soccer is celebrating its 50th season of varsity competition in 2019.
- The game marked the start of CCSU head coach Shaun Green's 35th season in charge of the program. He is the all-time leader in wins at the school with 275.
- The Blue Devils and Pirates have played three times all-time, with SHU winning all three meetings. Seton Hall opened the 2018 season with a 2-1 win in New Britain.
- Sophomore Noah Silverman had two shots, including one on goal, for Central. The Blue Devils were outshot, 28-8, in the game.
- CCSU had 12 players, including Dubrovich and Simpson, see their first action in a Blue Devils uniform in the game.
