Yepes Named All-NEC Men's Soccer First Team

Senior Eddie Yepes of the Central Connecticut men's soccer team was named Northeast Conference First Team All-Conference it was revealed at the league's pre-championship banquet on Thursday night. Yepes led the Blue Devils in scoring and had eight goals in conference play.
The senior midfielder finished the season with a team-leading 19 points on eight goals and three assists. In all games, he tied for third in the NEC in points and goals scored. Yepes was even better in NEC games when tied for the league-lead with 18 points and eight goals.
Yepes was named the league's Co-Player of the Week on Nov. 11 after scoring a pair of goals in CCSU's win over Sacred Heart in the season-finale. He opened the scoring in the game with a free-kick goal in the 26th minute to give CCSU an early lead. He would win the game just three minutes into overtime when he finished a loose ball for winner to make it 3-2. He had a streak of scoring in five straight games (Oct. 6-25) and had a goal in six of the last seven games of the year, including two multi-goal games.
Yepes is the first Blue Devil to earn All-NEC First Team honors since Andres Muriel-Albino in 2017.
