Men's Soccer Ends Season with Overtime Road Loss at Quinnipiac
Central Connecticut scored with 17 seconds left in regulation to send the game to overtime, but dropped a 4-3 overtime loss on the road at Quinnipiac on Friday afternoon. send the game to overtime, but dropped a 4-3 overtime loss on the
road at Quinnipiac on Friday afternoon. The Blue Devils finish the
season with a 4-10-2 overall record and a 1-6-2 in NEC play. Three
players each scored a single goal in the match for Central.
Central fell behind 2-0 less than 12 minutes into the game when
William Daniels and William Cavallo each scored for the
Bobcats.
They responded with a pair of goals before halftime to tie the game
at the break.

Smurthwaite scored his first goal of the season at 18:49 to
make it 2-1. Connor
Smith scored his third of the season 45 seconds before halftime
to tie the game.
Quinnipiac took a 3-2 lead at 66:21, and held it until the final
minute of play.
Juan Pablo Gamboa's second goal of the season, with 17 seconds
remaining before the end of regulation, sent the game into
overtime. He scored off a corner kick from teammate Jessie Menzies
and headed it past the Quinnipiac keeper for the equalizer.
The Bobcats scored just 2:27 into overtime to win the game 4-3.
Pierre Soubrier's free kick beat the Central keep and gave
Quinnipiac the victory.
Quinnipiac outshot Central 19-14 in the match, including 9-6 in
shots on goal.
Central has completed its season with a 4-10-2 overall record.
