Ingham, Sportman Named All-New England
Seniors grab honors on eve of NEC Tournament
Seniors Josh Ingham and JP Sportman, the top two hitters for the Blue Devils this season, have been named to the New England Collegiate Baseball Association's All-New England team on Wednesday. Ingham earned a pair of honors, making the First Team as a relief pitcher and the Second Team as a second baseman. Sportman was named to the Second Team in the outfield.
Ingham's relief pitcher numbers have been fantastic again this season for the Blue Devils. Already the school's all-time saves leader heading into his senior season, he has added eight saves this year for a total of 27 in his career. He leads the team with a 1.96 ERA and has allowed only four earned runs all season.
At the plate Ingham leads the Blue Devils in hitting at .340 and is tied for the team lead in runs batted in with 23. His 54 hits are second only to Sportman and his on-base percentage of .395 also leads the Blue Devils.
Sportman leads the team in hits with 59 and is fifth in school history with 244 career hits entering this weekend's Northeast Conference Tournament. He is also eighth in career RBI (123) including 32 this season. He also ranks in the top-10 in doubles (48), triples (13), total bases (357) and stolen bases (37).
The Blue Devils begin the NEC Tournament in Norwich, CT as the #2 seed and will play #3 Sacred Heart on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
