Central 7th After NEC Tournament Opener
Central shot a 327 in the first round of the NEC tournament.
The Central Connecticut women's golf team registered a team score of 327 on day one of the Northeast Conference Tournament, good for seventh place. Teams concluded the first day of tournament action after 18-holes, round two will take place on Saturday, and the final round will be on Sunday.
Fairleigh Dickinson (305) leads the field while Long Island (308) is second and Sacred Heart stands in third (310). Monmouth (315) and St. Francis (PA) (324) round out the top-five. Central trails Wagner (325) who is sixth and leads ninth place Quinnipiac (344), 10th place Mount St. Mary's (349), and 11th place St. Francis (NY) (395).
Pacing the Blue Devils in the tournament's opening round was junior Anna Ausanio who carded a 78 (+6). Ausanio is tied for ninth on the individual leader board and is five strokes back from the leader Cristina Felip (+1). The junior remained even on her first nine and penciled in two birdies but picked up six strokes on her final nine of the day.
Junior Katie Reid stands tied for 24th individually after tallying an 82 (+10) on her first 18 of the tournament. Reid finished with 8 pars and birdied the 11th hole.
Freshman Albrianna Farnum is tied for 27th after shooting an 83 (+11). Junior Stephanie Bednar is tied for 31st (84) and sophomore Gina Grant is tied for 46th (90).
The second round of NEC tournament action will take place Saturday, April 28th.
