Women's Golf Finishes 6th at Richmond
Blue Devils shoot round three 320 to climb leaderboard
The Central Connecticut women's golf team shot a day three team score of 320 to finish tied for sixth place at the University of Richmond Spider Intercollegiate Tournament which finished on Tuesday.
Central shot a three-day total of 966, just five shots back of fourth place in the tournament. St. John's won the team title with a 911, followed by Georgetown and Richmond. Lehigh was fourth, followed by Youngstown State and then Central Connecticut and Hofstra.
The Blue Devils finish as the top Northeast Conference team in the 14-team field. They topped league opponents Sacred Heart, LIU Brooklyn, St. Francis (PA), Mount St. Mary's and Robert Morris in the two-day event.
The tournament was played at Independence Golf Course in Midlothian, VA, a par 72 course playing 6,042 yards long.
Junior Stephanie Bednar led all Blue Devil finishers with a three-round total of 236 (+20), which put her in a tie for 23rd place overall. She shot a round three score of 77 to lead the Blue Devils.
Junior Anna Ausanio shot 241 (+25) and finished with an 83 on the final day. She tied for 32nd place overall. Freshman Albrianna Farnum took nine strokes off her round two score and shot 78 on Tuesday, giving her a three-round total of 244 (+28).
Junior Katie Reid tied for 45th place with a 246, including an 82 on the final day of action. Sophomore Elisabeth Beloin was the final scorer for the Blue Devils, shooting a 97 on the final day and finishing in a tie for 70th with a 266.
Sophomore Nicole Pizzoferrato, competing as an individual in the tournament, shot 103 and finished with a 307 for a three-day score.
