Ausanio Finishes Fifth at SHU Fall Classic
Junior shoots a day-two score of 80 to lead the Blue Devils
Junior Anna Ausanio shot a day two score of 80 and finished in fifth place overall after the second and final round of the Sacred Heart Fall Classic on Monday. The tournament was played at the Great River Golf Club in Milford, CT, and is a par 72.
The Blue Devils finished in sixth place overall out of the eight teams in the tournament. They shot a day two score of 351, nine shots better than their team score on day one on Sunday.
Ausanio shot an 82-80 over the two rounds, finishing +18 (162) and just seven shots back of the tournament medalist. Her 80 on Monday was the third-best round of the day among all of the 42 golfers on the course.
Junior Stephanie Bednar shot 86-90 and finished in a tie for 18th place with a two-day total of 176.
Freshman Albrianna Farnum improved nine strokes in the second round, shooting a 90 and finishing in a tie for 28th place, with teammate Katie Reid. Reid, a junior, shot a 91 on the second day, a seven stroke improvement from her round on Sunday.
Sophomore Gina Grant shot a 99 on the second day, and tied for 32nd place with a 193.
Sacred Heart placed first in the team scoring with a two-day total of 661, 12 shots better than runner-up Long Island. Monmouth (683) was third, followed by Boston University (686), Hartford (697) and then CCSU (711). Quinnipiac (770) and Holy Cross (785) finished seventh and eighth.
The tournament completes the fall season for the Blue Devils, who were playing under first year head coach Carly Ludwig.
