Men's Golf, Ouimet Lead After Day One at Towson Spring Invitational

The Central Connecticut men's golf team shot a day one score of 297 and holds a three-shot lead after the first day of the Towson Spring Invitational on Saturday.  The Blue Devils were led by sophomore Arthur Ouimet who shot a day one score of 69 (-3) and leads the entire field.  The tournament is being played at the Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville, MD.  Round two will take place on Sunday.

Ouimet's round of 69 led the Blue Devils on the day.  All five players who scored for the Blue Devils shot 77 or below, and all sit in a tie for 21st place or better in the 90-player field.

Central's 297 is three shots better than Saint Bonaventure who is in second place.  Sacred Heart is third, followed by Fairleigh Dickinson and then Youngstown State in the top five.

Senior Brandon Raine shot a 74 (+2) and is tied for sixth place.  Freshman Nicholas Piersall, classmate Joe Tucker and senior Anthony Sebastianelli each shot 77 and are tied for 21st place overall after day one.

Freshman Thomas Downing, playing as an individual in the tournament, shot a score of 75 and is tied for ninth place overall.  Sophomore John Aitken shot an 86 and is tied for 82nd place.

The second and final round will take place on Sunday.
