Men's Golf Finishes Seventh at Connecticut Cup
Blue Devils shoot 295 in final round and finish just 10 strokes out of third
The Central Connecticut men's golf team shot a round three score of 295 and finished in seventh place the the Connecticut Cup which finished play on Tuesday. The tournament was hosted by the University of Connecticut and was played at Ellington Ridge Country Club in Ellington, CT.
UConn won the team title with a score of 864, followed by Cornell (870), Rhode Island (877), Hartford (880), Siena (882), Lehigh (886) and then CCSU (887). The tournament consisted of 15 teams, including four from the Northeast Conference. The Blue Devils were the top league finisher.
The teams all completed their second round on Tuesday, and then played their final third round. The second round was suspended due to weather on Monday.
Freshman Joe Tucker shot a round three score of 72 to lead the Blue Devils on Tuesday in the third round. He finished the tournament in a tie for 19th overall with a score of 220. He shot 73-75-72 to finish at +4 on the par 72 course.
Sophomore Arthur Ouimet fired a second round score of 71 and finished at 78-71-74 (223, +7) to finish in a tie for 30th place overall.
Freshman Nick Piersall shot 71-77-76 (224, +8) to finish in a tie for 42nd place. Senior Anthony Sebastianelli (75-73-77) and Brandon Raine (77-78-73) finished in a tie for 47th and a tie for 59th respectively.
