Blue Devils Complete NCAA Regional Championships on Wednesday
CCSU shot 298 in Wednesday's final round to finish in 14th place overall
The Central Connecticut men's golf team shot a round three score of 298 and completed play in the Kissimmee Regional in the NCAA Men's Golf Championships on Wednesday. The Blue Devils finished the regional in 14th place overall with a three round score of 895. They shot 303-294-298 in the three round regional. The field of 14 teams and five individuals competed in the regional tournament at the Par 72, 7,154 yards Watson Course at Reunion Resort in Reunion, FL.
Florida won the regional with a score of 822 (-42), followed by UCF (-30), Vanderbilt (-22), North Carolina (-21) and Kent State (-20). The top five teams advance to the NCAA Championships.
Freshman Joe Tucker paced the Blue Devils over the three-day stretch, finishing in a tie for 54th place overall with a three round score of 220 (+4). Tucker shot 71-73-76 in his three rounds.
Senior Anthony Sebastianelli, the 2018 Northeast Conference Golfer of the Year, shot 76-72-75 (223, +7) to tie for 65th place overall. Freshman Nick Piersall (79-72-74, +9) finished in 68th place while sophomore Arthur Ouimet shot 77-77-73 (+11) to finish in a tie for 70th place.
The Blue Devils earned an automatic berth into the NCAA field by virtue of winning the Northeast Conference Championship two weeks ago. Central claimed its fifth conference title in program history and is back in the NCAA regionals after last participating in 2005. CCSU led the NEC Championship wire-to-wire and topped the field by 12 strokes.
