CCSU 5th, DeJohn T8th After Two at NEC's
The first two rounds of the 2013 NEC tournament were held on Saturday.
The Central Connecticut men's golf team stands in fifth place after the first two rounds of the 2013 Northeast Conference Tournament. Rounds one and two were played on Saturday after a rain out of round one on Friday.
LIU-Brooklyn is currently in first place after a team score of 593 on Monday. Fairleigh Dickinson shot a 596 to give them the second place spot followed by third place Robert Morris who marked down a 597. Saint Francis U sits in front of Central in fourth place after a day one 598, the Blue Devils shot a two round total of 599 to round out the field's top-five.
Senior Matthew DeJohn is tied for eighth on the individual leader board after shooting a team best 147 on Saturday. DeJohn followed his first round 74 with an impressive 73 in round two. Freshman Connor Murphy shot a 150 after the first two rounds of play and sits in a 14th place tie individually.
Senior Captain Dan Fanion is tied for 17th place on the individual leader board. Fanion shot a 151 on day one. Also tied with Fanion for 17th place is teammate sophomore Monte Mullen. Mullen also marked-down a 151 on Saturday. Sophomore Kevin Jud is in 51st place, he shot a 173.
This year's NEC Tournament is being held at LPGA International - Legends Course in Daytona Beach, FL. The par-72 course is playing 6853 yards for this weekend's event. The tournament was originally scheduled for one round to be played on each day of the event (18 Friday, 18 Saturday, and 18 Sunday), but due to a rain out on Friday the first and second rounds were held on Saturday.
The third and final round of the tournament will be held tomorrow, May 5th, to conclude this year's championship.
